Lake Braies is know in Italian as Lago di Braies and in German as Pragser Wildsee.
This picturesque Italian mountain lake is absolutely stunning.
The mountain valley Lago di Braies is locatated in is called the Val di Braies.
This emerald green and turquoise lake, often considered to be the most beautiful South Tyrolean lakes, is said to be the “pearl among Dolomite lakes”.
Pragser Wildsee truly looks stunning. The Lake Braies is framed by the Dolomites, with the imposing Croda del Becco (2,810 m), often mirrored in its glassy reflection.
Situated 1,500 meters above sea level in the northernmost point of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park, Lake Braies was formed after a landslide blocked the river Braies.
Especially during the summer months, the lake attracts hikers, bikers and mountain climbers.
Dating back to 1899, the Hotel Lago di Braies is a whimsical lakeside hotel and formerly a popular haunt of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy.
I have to see this lake in person!
